Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Today was the start of a very busy week for us! Valentine's Day celebrations today, it was the kick-off to the Greek Olympics for Jack's 6th grade and Sean was finally the star student of the week! Whew! Once we get through this busy week we will certainly need the week off from school next week.

I found really cute coupons for the kids and put one in each of their lunchboxes. Jack's said he could pick out one new book at the bookstore (but he is going to pick out a new title on amazon to put on his kindle). Kieran's said he could go to the store with me and pick out any snack for the family that he wanted. I see cheese doodles and mint chocolate chip ice cream in my near future! And Kate's said that she could stay up one hour later past bedtime on a weekend night. Sean's said he could go get sesame chicken with mom one day for lunch! They loved their coupons so much that I am going to have to do them more often!

Since we had daisies this afternoon, I set the table for our special valentine's dinner this afternoon and it looked adorable. I put the kids gift cards to East End Dippity under their heart dinner plates. And put their box of chocolate on top. Homemade sauce with pasta, homemade bread (well made in the bread machine! LOL) and pink cupcakes and pink lemonade for dinner. John got a gift card to Bass Pro Shops and he brought me home yummy chocolates.

The kids were so excited to go through all their valentines and candy from school. Sean especially, since it was his first year in pre-k and he has seen the older kids come home with valentines and candy year after year.

Well, tomorrow I am heading to the school to watch Jack compete in Jeopardy and then Sean has a McDonalds playdate with Sydney and Kate has the dentist and a friend coming over after school. Did I mention this week was going to be busy? LOL!

Still trying.....

Well, several months ago I was inspired to start a blog because I enjoy reading a few blogs so much that I became envious of the fact that they are recording their lives.

Then, after the first post, I never came back. That feels like so many things in my life these days. With four kids I feel like I am always doing something off my never-ending list and so many things are put off or forgotten. But I caught a glimpse of a photo the other day of Jack when he was Katie's age and I was struck by how much I had forgotten about what he was like at that age.

I pride myself on loving the age that they are at. Enjoying them for who they are now...not the babies they were, or the person they will become. But all the same, I am afraid for the day when they are no longer living with me and I can't remember why I was so busy, what I was doing, or how they sounded at each age. I have thousands of photos of them....but no real record of our day to day lives, the things we do, things we say, fun and tears that we experience.

So, I'm back. And hopefully as soon as I figure out how to post photos I can begin to record my life as a stay at home (but mostly in the car) mom of four kids who loves her life as much as I could have ever hoped to.

Fun Mommy/Daughter Day!

I was lucky enough to have a fun mommy/daughter day with Katie and some friends today!

We went to see the new Barbie Fashion Fairytale movie in the movie theater this afternoon. Our movie theater will show movies that are about to be released onto DVD the weekend before at noon. So our neighboor and her daughter organized a fun outing for the moms and girls.

So with Starbucks in hand I sat down to watch the new barbie movie. It was so, so cute! I loved it! And Kate loved Barbie's cell phone and jewlery! We will definitly be going to get it on Tuesday when it is released to DVD. In fact, I may pick it up while she is in school and suprise her with it when she gets home.

So after the movie, we headed over to Chilis for lunch. Yum! It was so cute to watch all the girls sitting at their table talking and coloring and all the moms got to sit and chat at our table. Definitly need to make these days more of a prioriy!

And as a plus, Kate found out that one of the girls that joined us is in her gymnastics class on Thur. This is great, b/c I think Kate was a little nervous b/c she didn't think she'd know any of the girls in this class. Plus I can visit with her mom, which will be fun!

OK, off to bed b/c tomorrow starts our first full week of school and it will be a busy one!

My First Post!

Ok, so blogging has been something I've wanted to do for a long time. I love reading through other people's blogs and a few of them have turned their blogs into printed journals at years end. That is what I want to do.

I take so many pictures during the week of the kids and I am always posting them on facebook. But I still don't have a printed record of our lives. I loved the idea of scrapbooking and even did that for a while (I love the idea of recording our lives, my thoughts and preserving memories) but I am not a crafty person by nature and it became another chore to do around the house. So, my hope is that I can journal about our lives, include pictures and eventually print them out into book form for when I am old, gray and senile! LOL!

So now that my first post is under my belt, I am off to figure out how to include pictures in my posts and also links to other blogs that I read. I am a big fan of the party blogs and baking/cooking blogs so hopefully I can share those on my site as well.
